Mission Statement

The Sanford Pottery Festival has donated over one hundred thirty thousand dollars from our previous events to support the visual arts in local schools, public and private, secular and Christian.

In North Carolina, schools spend on average a dollar per year or less per student to purchase supplies for the visual arts.  Students whose main gifts are found in the arts need greater encouragement.  They are often the most creative and sensitive of students.  The arts lead to more real jobs for real people in the real world than athletics.

The goal of the SPF is to support the visual arts program in our local schools, to promote the arts in education creatively, to lead by example and to encourage through advocacy so that children all over North Carolina will benefit eventually.

Our efforts on behalf of arts education have received statewide attention and awards.  Influential public leaders, state and national, support the SPF and attend it regularly.
